Saturday's matchup with the Atlanta Venom proved to be a one sided affair. The Gators jumped out to an early lead and never looked back thanks to a season high 293 yards rushing and six takeaways!
The Gators got things rolling with a two yard TD plunge by RB Orlando Meeks in the first quarter, followed by a laser TD pass from QB Robbie Morse to WR Jalen Burnette from 15 yards out in the 2nd quarter. The second half would prove more of the same as the Gator offensive and defensive lines would impose their will on the Venom.
Gators RB Jamarius Green (12-104 yds) would add two second half TDs, while back-up QB Joshua Nettles (6-104 yds), who would add a score of his own in the fourth quarter. The Gator defense continued to be dominant and opprotunistic with six takeaways...five interceptions, which included a 65 yard TD return by CB Labarron Mallory and a fumble recovery from CB Dee Garrett!
The Gators (7-1) set their sights on a trip to the bayou for a rematch of the season operner against the Vipers from Hammond, La., a contest the Gators won 16-12.
