Dynasty, Blackhawks in Week 2 Game of the Week

March 10, 2023
By: APDFL Staff Writer

Birmingham, ALIt’s week 2 of the APDFL season and with more teams competing this weekend, it’s expected to be another amazing weekend of football.

(14) Alabama War Dawgs(0-0) @ (3) Georgia Thrashers (0-0)
Snellville, GA
5:00pm (est.)
live: https://score-sports.com/football-23
Both teams will be taking to the field for the first time in 2023. War Dawgs are looking to make a statement as they participate for the first time in team history. Will the Dawg get a chance to eat when they land in Georgia, home to THE Bulldogs? For the Thrashers, it’s simply more of the same. Another opponent…. Another victim! Can they continue to live up to the level of play expected of them?
Georgia Thrashers – 42
Alabama War Dawgs – 6

(10) Atlanta Tigers (1-0) @ (15) South Georgia Cavaliers (0-1)
Hazlehurst, GA
7:00pm (est.)

This is set up to be a great contest. If it were played at their home field, the Tigers would easily be the favorite this weekend. Playing on the road, however, always seems to bring challenges of its own. Both teams displayed powerful defenses last week. Which will be able to dominant two weeks in a row? For the Cavaliers to get their first win, they will need the defense to continue what they did a week ago. However, they will also need a good game out of RB, Perry King. King displayed a great running attack a week ago and with more touches this week, the Tigers interior will be tested. At the same time, how will the Cavaliers secondary hold up? Tigers QB1, Cedrick Morgan, put on a clinic in their victory during week 1 and will be looking to add to that this week. With a slew of top rated WR’s, the Cavalier secondary better be ready to show out.
Atlanta Tigers – 36
South Georgia Cavaliers – 22

(16) Knoxville Outlaws (0-1) @ (18) Nashville Elite (0-1)
La Vergne, TN
7:00pm (est.)
Both teams are coming off of defeats from a week ago. Outlaws took an “L” off the field, while Elite were taken advantage of. Both will be seeking to bounce back this weekend and playing on their home turf should provide the much-needed comfort for the Elite to show exactly who they are. Outlaws have yet to show what they can do on the field. The energy is high in their camp with anticipation, however, so is that of the Elite.
Nashville Elite – 16
Knoxville Outlaws – 12

(6) Walton County Chiefs (1-0) @ (13) Crescent City Rampage (0-0)
New Orleans, LA
7:00pm (cst)
Coming off of an exciting 1-point game of the year nomination, the Chiefs will take to the road this weekend as they face-off in New Orleans against a young and hungry Rampage team. Rampage started the season on the sideline as they watched their foes across the league go to battle. The extra week of preparation could prove to be exactly what they need. At the same time, a win this weekend would show the Western Conference they are for real. It might just be a little too much to handle as the Chiefs will be fully loaded. A road trip to New Orleans is always an invitation to Bourbon Street.
Walton County Chiefs – 26
Crescent City Rampage – 17

(11) Bama Bad Boyz (1-0) @ (19) Mob City Miners (0-1)
Mobile, AL
6:00pm (cst)
Bad Boys are coming off of an impressive defensive battle in which they saw themselves on the winning end. Miners on the other hand, will be looking to regroup. With a couple key figures, and playing at home, they will be a much more dominant team this weekend. Bad Boyz will need to find a way to travel better than they did last week if they are going to be competitive.
Bama Bad Boyz – 16
Mob City Miners – 12

(2) Crescent City Kings (2-0) @ (9) Panhandle Crusaders (1-1)
Pensacola, FL
7:00pm (cst.)
Kings are coming off an impressive victory a week ago. In a game that could have gone in either direction, they took over in the second half and made it their own. Crusaders will need to be able to keep up with the “King” like antics that will be placed in front of them. A top 10 contest that could have easily been selected as game of the week, this will be one you’ll want to see.
Crescent City Kings – 28
Panhandle Crusaders – 12

(5) Arkansas Punishers (1-0) @ (8) Bayou Lacombe Cardinals (0-1)
St. Tammany Parish, LA
8:00pm (cst)

Punishers looked good in their season opener however this weekend they will be tested. Cardinals are coming off of a disappointing loss. This weekend they will look to bounce back as they put on a show for their home crowd. Don’t let opening weekend fool you though! Cardinals may have loss in a dandy, but they are who we think they are. If the thought is to pull up and pluck some feathers, they will need to be in “Punish mode”. After a disappointing weekend the Cardinals will be ready to turn things around.
Bayou Lacombe Cardinals – 24
Arkansas Punishers – 16

GAME OF THE WEEK!!!
(1) Mississippi Dynasty (1-0) @ (7) Alabama Blackhawks (1-0)
Pinson, AL

An early season preview of what the end may look like is upon us. Two teams, one from the West and one from the East, that are expected to fight for the right to be there when the trophy is raised will face-off in this weekend and the Week 2 Game of the Week. It’s these games that set the APDFL apart from the pack. Two of the best in the country facing each other on a weekly basis! A return to a season rivalry that has always displayed some hard-hitting excitement. Dynasty will take to the field for the first time this season and they do so on the road against a cross conference rivalry. Blackhawks are coming off of a very dominant victory, but they know it won’t be that easy this weekend. Playing at home, Blackhawks should have a slight advantage. However, until the champions are dethroned, they get my vote.
Mississippi Dynasty – 18
Alabama Blackhawks – 16

There you have it! This weekend's predictions are upon us and like I always say, don’t hate the predictions, SIMPLY PROVE THEM WRONG!
