Feed The Hungry Weekly Match-ups

07 March 2022
By: APDFL Staff Writer

Atlanta, GA – This weekend across the APDFL we reach out to assist those less fortunate. Over 553,000 Americans are homeless, approximately 40 million people struggle with hunger and 40.6 million officially live in poverty. APDFL has teamed up with Volunteers of America in trying to prevent and end homelessness. Volunteers of America uses a range of support services including eviction prevention, emergency services, transitional housing and permanent affordable housing. We ask that each and every one of you join us this weekend and bring your can goods to your favorite APDFL teams home game. Your local team will ensure that those in need have access to these items.

With that, let’s take a look at this weekends match-ups.

(25) East Alabama Predators (0-2) @ (23) Alabama Tigers (0-1),
Georgiana, AL
6:00PM cst
Both teams will come into this weekends game looking for their first victory on the season. Some would argue that the Predators have not been playing up to expectations thus far this season. Taking to the road they will be facing a hungry Tiger team that was unable to take to the field last weekend due to weather. Playing at home should give the Tigers a slight advantage.
Alabama Tigers – 17
East Alabama Predators – 12

(19) Tri-City Bengals (0-1) @ (20) Mobile Miners (1-1),
Mobile, AL
7:00pm cst
Bengals will make the trip to Mobile for their second match-up of the season. After not being able to play last weekend due to weather, they will surely be hype for the chance to get back on the field. The Miners are coming off of a devastating loss. They will need to regroup fairly quickly if they hope to be victorious this weekend.
Tri-City Bengals – 26
Mobile Miners – 8

(10) Crescent City Rampage (2-0) @ (11) Pike County Titans (1-1),
McComb, MS
5:00pm cst
Rampage find themselves ranked higher than ever before as members of the APDFL. Breaking the top 10, this weekend they will get to prove that they are for real. Titans have continued to play hard despite not having the depth as some of their counterparts. A preseason gamble would have looked at this one as a possible blow-out in favor of the Titans. However, the Rampage will come to play. Playing at home should give the Titans the advantage they need to pull out the victory.
Pike County Titans – 17
Crescent City Rampage – 16

(2) Georgia Thrashers (2-0) @ (26) Georgia Noles (0-2),
Macon, GA
7:00pm est
Thrashers have done just that! “Thrashed” every opponent placed in front of them. On both sides of the ball, they have been nothing short of impressive. If they are to travel as a complete team, there will most likely be more of the same. Noles continue to search for their team identity. This won’t be the week they find it.
Georgia Thrashers – 48
Georgia Noles – 0

(14) Greater Pensacola Jets (1-1) @ (24) Pensacola Panthers (0-1),
Pensacola, FL
6:00pm cst
With the addition of “the human highlight reel”, Tyrone Jones (QB), the Jets appear to have returned to a style of play that lead them to 2 championships. They will be looking to build on an upset victory from week ago. Although not the home team, they will be facing a crosstown foe which should eliminate the home-field advantage. Panthers are going to need to find a way to turn it up a notch. After not taking to the field in week 1, at no fault of their own, they were “de-clawed” in their season opener. A victory over the Jets would lead them in the right direction however, the offense will need to find a way to put points on the board this weekend if they hope to be competitive.
Greater Pensacola Jets – 27
Pensacola Panthers – 6

(5) Bayou Lacombe Cardinals (2-0) @ (21) South Mississippi Badgers (0-1),
New Augusta, MS
6:00pm cst
Once again, Cardinals are proving that they are capable of flying higher than the rest. Playing at a high level in all 3 aspects of the game, they should prove to be a bit too much for the Badgers to handle. Badgers are looking forward to getting back on the field. This week they will need to be playing their best football if they want to walk away with the upset.
Bayou Lacombe Cardinals – 32
South Mississippi Badgers – 6

(15) South Mississippi Steelers (1-0) @ (4) Mississippi Dynasty (2-0),
Pearl, MS
6:30pm cst
Steelers are just excited to be playing a game. A postponed game to start the season followed by a win via forfeit, they have yet had the chance to come together on the field. I’m not sure this is the opponent they were looking forward to facing in their initial outing. Dynasty started off slow a week ago. In doing so, several assumed they may have lost a step. However, when the dust had cleared and the clock read 0:00, they had once again proved their dominance.
Mississippi Dynasty – 38
South Mississippi Steelers – 0

(8) Alabama Sabers (2-0) @ (13) Alabama Blackhawks (1-1),
Birmingham, AL
7:00pm cst
A nomination for game of the week, this one is sure to be entertaining. Both teams are full of athletes that have either played against or together at some point. Which makes this one a must see game. With that said, Blackhawks appear to have loss a step from a season ago. The loss of several stand out players will force others to have to step up and play at a higher level. This weekend that may be a bit challenging. Sabers have looked impressive over their first two games of the season. They are presently home to the leagues top defense having blanked their first two opponents on the season. For the Blackhawks to be victorious they will need to play better than they have in their first two outings.
Alabama Sabers – 22
Alabama Blackhawks – 12

(7) Columbus Storm (1-1) @ (27) Steel City Raptors (0-1),
Birmingham, AL
7:00pm cst
Raptors are going to need to figure out who they are and will need to do so fast. If they don’t, the forecast for this weekend will be a 95% chance of a “Storm”. Storm will travel as a team and will come to play. After a break out week by QB1, Marcus Brooks, he is primed to put himself in position to continue where he left off a week ago.
Columbus Storm – 26
Steel City Raptors – 0

(18) Arkansas Punishers (0-2) @ (1) Crescent City Kings (1-0),
New Orleans, LA
7:00pm cst
After missing their first game of the season, Punishers find themselves thrown into the deep end early. This weekend they will face the nations top team and will have to do so on the road. A test of composure it will be. Kings look to be just as dominate early in the season as they did to close the 2021 season. Hitting on all cylinders this early in the season could be a signal of what’s to come. Playing at home this weekend will prove to be an added advantage.
Crescent City Kings – 36
Arkansas Punishers – 8

GAME OF THE WEEK!!

(6) Florida Falcons (2-0) @ (3) Georgia Cobras (2-1),
Thomasville, GA
6:00pm est
This one should be good!! Both teams have been looking forward to this match-up since it made it’s way on the schedule. Falcons have been impressive in their first two outings. This weekend they will have the opportunity to prove that they are for real. Cobras will get another chance to face a high level opponent to show they are who we think they are. This weekend however, won’t be the same as last for either team. If the Falcons are to complete the upset, they will need to find a way to contain the Cobras pass attack. While doing so, they will also need to find a way to stop Jarred Lewis (RB), one of the leagues most elusive runners to date. It won’t be an easy task!
Georgia Cobras – 16
Florida Falcons – 12

There you have it! The predictions are in and the only thing left to do is to play the games. Like I always say, don’t hate the predictions, simply PROVE THEM WRONG!!
