Jacksonville, FL – With just one week remaining in the regular season, the APDFL Western Conference post-season picture is just about set. Although some seedings are yet to be fully determined, let’s take a look at how we enter the final week of the 2021 season in the Western Conference.

(1) Bayou Lacombe Cardinals (9-1) – With a win by default this past weekend, the Cardinals have locked up the regular season No. 1 seed and will play host throughout the post-season. Although this may have come as a surprise to many, the Cardinals have been playing top notch football since returning from the long off-season brought on by the national pandemic. They have been highly tested over the course of the regular season having faced all of their post-season counterparts with the exception of one. For any team to advance to the National Presidents Cup Championship game from the west, they will need to defeat the Cardinals on their home turf. Something no one has been able to do thus far.

(2) Gulf Coast Gators (7-2) – Gators presently hold the No. 2 seed in the west due to the head-to-head victory over the Mississippi Dynasty. A win this weekend over the Columbus Storm (east) would solidify their seeding while a loss to the Storm and a win by the Mississippi Dynasty over the Hub City Hellcats would drop them to the No. 4 seed.

(3) Mississippi Dynasty (7-2) – Dynasty enter the final week of the regular season as the Western Conference No. 3 seed. With the tie-breaker over the Panhandle Crusaders, a loss this weekend would not affect their position in the post-season standings. However, a loss by the Gulf Coast Gators and a win over the Hellcats would lead the Dynasty entering the post-season as the No. 2 seen in the west.

(4) Panhandle Crusaders (7-3) – As the Western Conference No. 4 seed, the Crusaders will get the luxury of sitting back this weekend and watching what takes place with their counterparts. A Gulf Coast Gators loss to the Columbus Storm this weekend would move their seeding up to No. 3 as they own the head-to-head match up over the Gators. As they also hold the tie breaker over the Pike County Titans via no home losses, they have solidified a No. 4 seeding at worse.

(5) Pike County Titans (6-3) – Titans will play host to the Mobile 49ers this weekend. This contest is purely for post-season position. The winner will go into the post-season as the No. 5 seed while the loser will advance as the No. 6 seed.

(6) West Mobile 49ers (5-3) – As indicated above, 49ers will travel to McComb, MS this weekend to face the Titans to determine the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds as the 49ers hold the tie breaker over the Crescent City Kings by way of no home losses.

(7) Crescent City Kings (4-4) – With the tie breaker over the Louisiana Lightning, the Kings will make their way into the post-season no matter the outcome of this weekends contest against the Crescent City Rampage. They have solidified the No. 7 seed in the west.

The Western Conference post-season is near and the match-ups are becoming clear. This is the time that each member of each team needs to be playing at a high level because it’s win, or go home!
