Domestic Violence Awareness Week Brings Some Intense Match-ups

Jacksonville, FL – Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League (APDFL) will celebrate Domestic Violence Awareness across the league this weekend. In doing so, we would like to quickly bring some statistics to attention. On average, more than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the US will experience rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner. 1 in 10 high school students has experienced physical violence from a partner in the last year alone. Statistics like these demand that we all commit ourselves to ending abuse for good. Just under 15% of women and 4% of men in the US have been inuured as a result of intimate partner violence that included rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner. Almost half of all women and men in the US have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
If you or someone you know are a victim of domestic violence, you can reach the domestic violence hotline by calling: 800-799-7233 or by visiting www.thehotline.org.

In their first match-up the Noles were able to blank the Crushers as they were still seeking to find unity among their team. The Cobras have been impressive in the games that they have played thus far this season however, will the time off be a hindrance? Will the Tigers show that they utilized the off time wisely? For the Tigers to be victorious on the road they will need to play at a very high level.

(19) East Alabama Predators (2-4) @ (9) Tuskegee Ayrmen (5-1)
Tuskegee, AL

As state previously, Predators have yet to live up to expectations. No better weekend to find their groove than against another in-conference rivalry. Ayrmen, on the other hand, have been just the opposite. Sitting at 5-1, they have been impressive over the first half of the season and will look to continue that this weekend. If they are to play their game, and the weather allows, they should be able to pull off a close victory playing before their home crowd.

(24) Greater Pensacola Jets (1-5) @ (5) Panhandle Crusaders (4-1)

Crusaders have been impressive over the first half of the season and are positioned to continue this run into the post season. This weekend they will play host to a Jets team that is still looking for their identity. For the Jets to pull off the upset they will need to be able to play their best game to date. This won’t be an easy task.
Panhandle Crusaders – 46
Greater Pensacola Jets – 0

(2) Bayou Lacombe Cardinals (6-0) @ (7) Pike County Titans (4-1)
McComb, MS
4:30pm
This could be one of those games that we look back at as a game of the year contender. It has all of the makings to be a great one! Both teams have been overly impressive over the first half of the season. Cardinals have been tested on a weekly basis and in each test have proven that they are to be taken seriously. Titans have been just as impressive. This one should come down to how the Titans are able to hold up. If the Titans are able to play at a high level from start to finish then they can surely pull off the upset. However, the fatigue factor could come into play and get the best of them. The Cardinals have shown that they can always find a way to pull out the close victories and this is expected to be another one of those close contests.
Bayou Lacombe Cardinals – 16
Pike County Titans – 12

(16) Orlando Phantoms (2-3) @ (17) Atlanta Tigers (3-4)
Postponed

(10) Gulf Coast Gators (3-2) @ (8) Columbus Storm (5-1)
Postponed

There you have it, the predictions are in and the only thing left to do is to play the games. With the weather putting a question mark on several games, we want to make sure that everyone is staying safe. Like I always say, don’t hate the predictions, SIMPLY PROVE THEM WRONG!!
