May 4th - The #2 Gators returned to action after a two week layoff against yet another APDFL contender, the #6 Crescent City Kings.
The Gators got started quickly behind a blocked punt from SS Matt Keysor. The blocked kick was recovered by Dul Jones for the games first score.
After a quick Kings TD pass, the Gators defense settled in. Frustrating QB Jyron Walters, sacking the signal caller seven times!
The Gators offense, led by QB Tyrone Jones (221 total yds, 3TD (rush TD) and RB Jamarius Green (87 yds, TD), would reel off four unanswered scores to take control of the contest. Green scored off a short run in the first to take a 14-6 lead. Jones would find WR Tahree Mims (2-25yds TD) quarantined in the back of the end zone to close out the half 21-6.
The second half would be more of the same for the Gators. With no threat of a Kings ground game, the Gators defense kept getting after Walters forcing incompletions and constant pressure. QB Tyrone Jones would add a third quarter rushing TD (28-6) and a fourth quarter TD pass to TE Labarron Chambers (3-47yds TD) to extend the lead to 35-6. The Kings would add a late score for the 35-12 final.
The #2 Gators host the Louisiana Lightning next Saturday at Pope Field in their regular season home finale!
April 13 - The Gulf Coast Gators hosted the unbeaten Georgia Cobras in the APDFL Game of the Week at Pope Field on Saturday night.
The Gators would get on the scoreboard early behind a Jamarius Green TD run set up by a Rico Ruffin interception return. The Cobras would answer with TD pass from QB Dion Graham and 2pt conversion for the 8-6 lead. The Gators would regain the lead 9-8 on a 32 yard David Flowers field goal, however, would find themselves trailing 16-9 at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Gators would mount the comeback! Cornerback Deshaun Davis kickstarted the effort with a huge interception and return inside the Cobra red zone. QB Tyrone Jones would find RB Jamarius Green in the flat for a score to even the game at 16-16. The Cobras had one last shot in regulation with a heave to the end zone but CB Vonte Edwards intercepted the Graham pass and nearly scored a walkoff pick six!
In the overtime period, the Gators would score on a 40 yard field goal from kicker David Flowers to take a 19-16 lead. The defense would hold strong and force a Cobra fourth down desperation throw to the end zone. FS Rico Ruffin intercepted Graham for a second time to seal the OT victory!

March 30 - The #6 Gators returned to Pope Field Saturday to host the #5 Tuskegee Ayrmen in their third APDFL Game of the Week appearance this season.
QB Tyrone Jones (321 yds, 3TD) led the offense down the field on the opening possession for the games first score. Jones would find RB Jamarius Green in the end zone for his first of three TD passes. On the next Gator possession, Jones would find WR Quan Johnson (6-148yds TD) on a quick pass for six. Jones would add a TD on the ground as the first half came to a close giving the Gators a 21-6 halftime lead.
In the second half, Jones would add his third passing TD, finding WR Jalen Burnette quarantined for a 34 yard TD strike.
Tuskegee would mount a small run pulling within ten late in the fourth. Kicker David Flowers would add a 20 yard field goal to give the Gators the 31-18 lead.
Missing several key players up front; including sack leader Eugene Robinson (11.5 sacks), the Gators defense would lean on its secondary. Led by FS Rico Ruffin’s pair of interceptions, Tuskegee QB Carl Davis would be intercepted four times on the night.
The Gators (4-1) will travel to Clanton, Alabama next Saturday to face the Chilton Tigers!
March 16th- The #3 Gulf Coast Gators hosted the Alabama Tigers in their 2019 home opener. The team did not disappoint their home crowd posting 41 first half points!
QB Tyrone Jones led the offense down the field on the first possession for six when he hit WR Quan Johnson streaking to the end zone for a 28 yard TD strike for the first of his four TD passes.
Jones (4-47yds) and RB Jamaruis Green (10-71yds 2TD, Rec TD) would lead the Gators’ rushing attack that totaled 182 yds on 21 carries. Rookie RB Deshaun Davis (3-46yds) added excellent rushing production off the bench and even snagged a 18yd interception return TD late in the second half.
The Gator defense was excellent as usual, securing its second shutout in three games, forcing 5 turnovers and scoring twice...once of Davis’ return and later off CB Trey Sprinkle’s 45yd interception return TD.
Next Saturday, the #3 Gators (3-0) travel to Pearl, Mississippi to face the leagues defending Champion, the #1 Mississippi Dynasty (3-0).
Jets prove to be no match for Gators!
March 9th - The #3 Gators made the short trip west to play the cross-county rival Pensacola Jets on Saturday.
QB Tyrone Jones would rush for two scores against his former team, but the day belonged to the Gators defense! Led by DEs Shaquille Campbell and Eugene Robinson, the defensive front throttled Jets QB Jeff Krusiak sacking him 14 times and forcing five turnovers.
Linebacker Dion Leverette would start the scoring with a first quarter fumble return for six. The offense would add to the first quarter lead with a Jones 7 yd TD run and a David Flowers 28 yard field goal. Up 17-0 in the 2nd, Jones would add another score on the ground giving the Gators a 24-0 advantage.
The Gators defense would own the second half scoring three times. DE Eugene Robinson’s sack strip of Jets QB Krusiak on the first play from scrimmage, returned by Vonte Edwards for the score. Robinson would add a fumble return TD of his own and record a safety with a sack of Krusiak in the end zone in the fourth quarter sealing the 39-6 victory!
The Gators (2-0) will host the Alabama Tigers (1-1) next Saturday in their home opener at Pope Field in Shalimar!
FS Rico Ruffin returns the second of his two interception vs the South Alabama Dolphins.
March 2nd - The #3 Gulf Coast Gators traveled to Mobile to face the #10 South Alabama Dolphins Saturday night in the APDFL Game of the Week.
QB Tyrone Jones led the Gator offense right down the field on the opening possession for the games only score, capped by RB Jamarius Green's 10 yard TD run. Led by FS Rico Ruffin and DE Shaquille Campbell, the Gator defense showed it's teeth forcing three turnovers and tallying six sacks. Ruffin, a Mobile native, snagged two Red Zone interceptions and earned MVG (Most Valuable Gator) honors on the night!
The Gators (1-0) visit the Pensacola Jets (1-0) next Saturday at Pensacola High School!
