Parrish, AL -

Representing Parrish, Alabama, the P-Town Wreckaz are prepared to improve off a 6-4 season from 2018 and make a run all the way to the top of the Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League.

“We are looking a little bit better this year. We’ve added some new pieces to the coaching staff as well as player personnel,” owner Nicholas Hammond told Developmental Football USA. “We are having a great camp and are looking to make a run to the Commissioner’s Cup. We expect nothing less than a conference championship en route to the APDFL League Championship.”

The Wreckaz are coached by Vince Heard, who takes over in his first season for P-Town. The team also boasts a new defensive coordinator in Den’zel Cotton, so it makes sense that Hammond is expecting a different, and improved, results from his team in 2019.

That’s not even mentioning the players, who on the offensive side of the ball will be led by coordinator Dion Oliver. P-Town’s offense will return several starters from last season, including several play makers.

The Wreckaz will be led by quarterback Boshe Watkins, who will have a stable of great players around him, including athlete Steven Steward, and wide receivers Marcus Harris, Dustin Wood, Jarryd Butler, and Jaypee McCann.

“The running game will be a lot stronger with the addition of some new pieces,” Hammond explained. “Dennis Miller and returning backs Dre Tucker and Jaquan Buie will share the rock and ramp up the run game.”

On defense, the Wreckaz should be a very strong unit after adding multiple new players to a group that was already a top five defense.

“We had several standouts from last year who have returned to do it bigger and better than their last outputs,” the owner explained.

Free safety Bryant Thomas notched 14 interceptions last season for P-Town, which led the league, and he’ll be back. Anton Tucker, Zeus Mcelrath, Ronnie Cockrell and Dennis Riggs will lead a linebacker group that Hammond says is “deeper than ever”. The Wreckaz are looking to mesh that group together in order to give different looks in different situations.

Jermain Swanigan and Jerrad Jones are the anchors on the defensive line for P-Town.

Hammond is looking forward to a challenge every week in the ADPFL. The Wreckaz are certainly interested in a revenge game against the Alabama Blackhawks, who knocked them out of the playoffs last season, but in all, the league will provide plenty of competition.

“The ADPFL is the best developmental football league in the country. The talent level throughout the league is exceptional,” Hammond said. “It will be a battle week-in and week-out, but we are up to the task. There’s only one way to be the best: you must first play the best and then you must beat the best. There’s no shortage of great competition in this league.”

The Wreckaz kick off the 2019 season against the East Alabama Predators on Saturday, March 2nd.
