Mobile, AL - The South Alabama Dolphins have high expectations heading into this Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League season. In fact, according to owner Bubba Flood, even as a first year team, they’re wanting to make a big splash.

“Honestly, I expect the trophy and anything less is unacceptable,” he told Developmental Football USA.

Based out of Mobile, Alabama, the Dolphins are a team that does boast some notable talent.

Offensively, look for Matt Rowser all over the field for South Alabama. He’s expected to play quarterback, running back, and wide receiver for the team, so he’s without a doubt a workhorse.

Wideout John Moffett Jr. will also be an impact player.

“He’s a big strong wide receiver who can run all routes and once the ball is in the air he seems to find away to come down with it,” Flood said.

Defensively, Flood expects the front line to be the heart of the team. He sees them as a big, fast and physical unit, but they also play with the football smarts that should allow them to terrorize opposing offenses. The owner is also looking forward to watching captain Leroy Rix make plays in the Dolphin’s secondary.

“I believe he will be in the top of the league in interceptions,” Flood said of Rix.

Dee Dailey, switching from the offensive side of the ball, is also going to be a player to watch at cornerback this season. He’s a young player who has a good break on the ball and tackles well in space.

As far as what to realistically expect from the Dolphins, ranked No. 10 heading into the season, Flood does know that nothing comes easy in the APDFL.

“The competition in this league is by far the best out there week-in, week-out. Its pretty much a must-win every weekend. The teams is this league are no slouches. You going to get hard nosed football from every team,” he explained.

In particular, Flood is expecting big games from the Gulf Coast Gators, Mississippi Dynasty and Crescent City Kings. Those are all National Conference games that the Dolphins will have circled.

“Those are good ball teams from start to finish. You’re going to get the best from all of those teams,” Flood said.

With that said, the South Alabama owner is confident in his squad, no matter the opponent.

“I think we match up top to bottom with any team is the league,” he said.

The APDFL kicks off on Saturday, February 23rd with the Commissioners Kick-Off Classic. The Dolphins will play their first game on Saturday, March 2nd against the aforementioned Gulf Coast Gators.
