Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League

New Orleans, LA - As the month of January winds down, people all over are still in the midst of experiencing everything that a new year brings. For the Crescent City Rampage, the new year will also mark their first as members of the Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League, which is widely considered as one of the most competitive at this level.

“We chose the APDFL because it is very organized and the competition, simply put,” Rampage owner Will Primus told Developmental Football USA.
While their membership in the APDFL is new, the team isn’t. The Rampage have been around for three years and were previously members of the now-defunct Gulf States Football League. 

In less than one month, the Rampage and the APDFL’s 21 other teams will officially begin their quest for a title.

“Our goal is to finish the season as one of the top teams,” Primus said. “That, plus finishing the season and earning the respect from the veteran teams.”

While every team will be vying to take down the two-time defending champion Mississippi Dynasty out of Jackson, Miss., the Rampage – which come in ranked No. 14 in the APDFL’s Pre-Season Poll – will also have to deal with two juggernauts in their own backyard. 

“We’re in the same area as two of the top teams in the Crescent City Kings and Louisiana Lightning,” Primus said. “There are plenty of top contender teams in the league, like the Kings, Dynasty, P-Town Wreckaz, the Gulf Coast Gators and the list can go on.”

Offensively, the Rampage has a trio of weapons that should be responsible for a good chunk of Crescent City’s production. 

“No. 10 Dontrell Boyd at wide receiver brings the energy,” Primus said. “No. 21 Roderick Johnson at running back brings the excitement and No. 15 Christian Smith at quarterback brings the fire.”

Defensively, one player from each position group has really stood out about the pack so far in camp.

“No. 9 Quincy Williams brings the fight at linebacker,” Primus said. “No. 36 Ronald Alex brings leadership at defensive end and No. 23 Dionte Allen brings heart in the secondary.”

Every team lives and breathes for key moments, upsets and championships, but in his time running the Rampage, the biggest highlight for Primus doesn’t involve a statistic.
