Selma City Vikings Ranked #21

Selma, AL – Selma, AL will be home to the Selma City Vikings in 2019. The Vikings, having made the move from Montgomery, will look to utilize their new home as a stepping stone as they seek to improve on their season from a year ago. In 2018, their first season as members of the Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League (APDFL), the Vikings came up just short of making the post-season.

We talked with Vikings owner, Chuck Morgan, on his expectations on the 2019 season and the move to Selma.

Writer: What brought about the move from Montgomery to Selma?

Morgan: Moving to Selma provides us with a chance to service more than one county in Central Alabama.

Writer: Are their presently any teams on the schedule that stands out?

Morgan: We are excited about all of the match-ups but we are looking forward to the Tuskegee Ayrmen and Alabama Blackhawks. Ayrmen because of the closeness and the changing of players. Blackhawks because in two games last season we were outscored by a score of 120 – 7.

Writer: How do you see the season playing out for the Vikings in 2019.

Morgan: With the move to Selma we have added players to the roster from all over Central Alabama. With that we believe that we will be playoff contenders in 2019.

Writer: Where will the Vikings be playing at in 2019?

Morgan: We will call Memorial Stadium (aka Bloc Park) in Selma, AL our home in 2019.

Writer: Is there anything else that you would like to add as you guys prepare for the season?

Morgan: We have some really good players on our squad this season. We have a stand out QB, Victor Callaway, that will turn heads and surprise the league. WR DeAnthony Taylor, DB Anthony Oliver, LB Kevin Jones, DE Bryant Smith, and C Bobby Island are all players that should be on the players to watch list going into the season.

The Vikings come into the 2019 season ranked #21. The move to Selma could prove to be exactly what they needed to get over the hump. We will be looking forward to seeing the Vikings at their new home.
