Gators roll in Tallahassee!

The Gulf Coast Gators traveled to Tallahassee on Saturday for a road match-up with the Tallahassee Panthers without several key players.  QB Robbie Morse was a gametime scratch nursing a sore elbow, as was CB Dee Garrett with an undisclosed injury.  Starting TE Allen Greenhill, who serves as one of the Gator's backup QBs stepped in to run the Gator's offense in Morse's absence.

Things started slowly offensively as the Gators had to find their groove with the new signal caller...but the Gator defense wasted no time as FS Jacob Onyechi stepped in front of a would be TD pass at the Gator's goal-line and raced 100 yards for the pick six!

The offense would finally show signs of life behind Greenhill as he found his replacement at TE D.J. Sonnier Jr. for a TD early in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead. Onyechi would chomp the Panther offense once again as he took his second interception of the first half 55 yards for another Gator's touchdown as the half came to a close....21-0 Gators.

The second half proved to be more of the same as Greenhill would lead two more scoring drives behind a strong ground game (24-149 yards), then finding Sonnier Jr. for another TD pass in the third quarter and WR Jalen Burnette early in the fourth for his third TD pass of the contest.  The Gator defense kept the Panther offense in check all afternoon led by LB Isaac Warren (7 tackles, sack, interception & a fumble recovery), DE Shaquille Campbell (6 tackles) and the games Most Valuable Gator...FS Jacob Onyechi (2 interception return TDs, 3 tackles, pass defended).

The Gators head into the bye weeks 3-0 and will return to action on April 7th when they travel to nearby Pensacola to face the Emerald Coast Scorpions!

Go Gators!
