Round 2 Post-Season Predictions

11 Jun 2021
By: APDFL Staff Writer

Jacksonville, FL – It’s round two of the post-season and this weekend will determine who advances to the conference championship games. Four highly competitive contests are on the slate for this weekend so let’s jump to it.

APDFL East

(3) Columbus Storm @ (2) Alabama Blackhawks
Pinson, AL
6:30PM
Storm took the conference by “Storm” in their first round contest as they deflated a Horsemen squad in a battle of high scoring offenses. In what was expected to be a low scoring game, the two teams combined to put up a total of 80 points. The highest output on the season for both teams. Blackhawks are coming off of a first round blow out as well as they faced the East Alabama Predators for the second time in just 3 weeks. Coming into this contest many would assume this to be a contest of the strength vs strength. The high powered and very consistent offense of the Blackhawks against the stingy, bend but don’t break defense of the Storm. However, one can not look past what the defense of the Blackhawks have done throughout the season. The late surge of the Storm offensive attack has been impressive but they will need to open the playbook a bit more if they are going to be impressive this weekend.
Alabama Blackhawks – 28
Columbus Storm – 16

(4) Georgia Thrashers @ (1) Unconquered Cobras
Camilla, GA
6:00PM
A re-match of an earlier game that was very impressive. In their first contest the Cobras were able to walk away with the victory on their home turf and will have the pleasure of playing there again this weekend. Coming off of two dominate victories, both teams are full steam ahead this weekend and both are playing some really good football. Thrashers defense shined in their last outing as they were able to serve up a goose egg on the scoreboard in their 28-0 defeat of the Ayrmen. As impressive as they were, they will have to double that output this weekend to obtain the same result. Cobras, as the top seed in the east, are coming off of a round 1 bye as they went undefeated on the regular season. This weekend the Thrashers are expected to be more competitive than they were in the first match-up as some key players will be back on the scene. Playing on the road however is never an easy situation.
Unconquered Cobras – 28
Georgia Thrashers – 22

APDFL West

(4) Panhandle Crusaders @ (3) Mississippi Dynasty
Pearl, MS
6:30PM
Crusaders and Dynasty faced-off late in the regular season in a one sided match-up. Crusaders will be looking to get revenge this weekend at a time where the contest matters most. “1 game at a time” should be the thought process for both teams as anyone has the ability to walk away with the victory. For the Crusaders to pull off the upset they will need to play their best game of the season. They will need to be sound in all three aspects of the game and will need to create turnovers on the defensive side of the ball. Dynasty have always seemed to turn it up a notch when it comes to the post-season. They will need to find a way to do that once again this weekend if they are looking to make it through one more game. With both teams having great athletic individuals on both sides of the ball, this is sure to be a great round 2 match-up.
Mississippi Dynasty – 24
Panhandle Crusaders – 16

(7) Crescent City Kings @ (1) Bayou Lacombe Cardinals
Mandeville, LA
7:00PM
Cardinals will surely be looking for some revenge in this weekends match-up. Having loss only 1 game over the course of the regular season, with that game coming at the hands of the Kings, they will be looking to not only advance this weekend but will also be looking to right their wrongs. They have been tested over the course of the season and have, for the most part, found a way to win in all their close match-ups with this 1 exception. As the No. 1 seed in the west, the question is did they come into this week prepared for the Kings or were they preparing for a different opponent. Kings fought their way into the post-season and shocked the league as they defeated the No. 2 seed, Gulf Coast Gators, in their round 1 contest. For the second time this season they were able to pull off the victory on the heels of their kicker with a walk-off FG. Is it possible for them to pull off yet another upset this weekend as this time, they hit the road and travel to the Cardinals. Possible, yes….. Probable, well the Kings have a habit of surprising teams when they least expect. With the ability to defeat anyone across the league, this truly could be their time.
Crescent City Kings – 16
Bayou Lacombe Cardinals – 14

There you have it, the predictions are in and the only thing left to do is to play the games. As always, Don’t hate the predictions, SIMPLY PROVE THEM WRONG!!
