Jacksonville, FL – With only three weeks remaining in the regular season, the post-season standings are beginning to shape up. 7 teams in each conference will advance to the post-season in 2021, sending the remaining 14 teams into off-season mode. Let’s take a look at the present standings.

The Western Conference is a bit tougher to determine at this point than their Eastern counterpart. With the exception of the western conferences top team, the remaining continues to be a toss up.

#1. Bayou Lacombe Cardinals (8-0) Cardinals have been playing really good football over the course of the season. Of all the teams across the league, one would argue that they are by far the most tested. A win in either of their final two games will solidify the #1 seed and home field advantage throughout the post-season as they presently hold tie breakers over Crusaders, Dynasty, Titans, and 49ers.

#2. Panhandle Crusaders (6-2) – With two games remaining the Crusaders will get the chance to prove that they have earned the #2 seed. Having loss to the Cardinals earlier in the season, #2 is as high as they can go. They do however, own the tie breaker over the Gators and will be given the opportunity to defeat the Dynasty on the field.

#3. Gulf Coast Gators (5-2) – Gators find themselves in a very unique position as they fight for the right to compete in the post-season. As they are the only 2 loss team in the west that has not fallen victim to the Cardinals, they still can play their way into the #1 seed however, to do so the Cardinals would have to lose both of their remaining games and the Gators would have to win out. Their position is unique in that with three weeks remaining in the regular season, they can finish anywhere in the western conference rankings from #1 to watching the post-season from the stands. Gators hold the tie breaker over the Dynasty.

#3. Mississippi Dynasty (5-2) – Dynasty find themselves in a very unfamiliar position at this point in the season. With three games remaining they have yet to clinch a post-season position. They have the advantage of playing on their home turf over the next three games however, neither of their match-ups should be taken lightly. They presently hold tie breakers over both the Titans and Kings but need to win at least two of their remaining three to not fall in the post-season standings.

#3. Pike County Titans (5-2) – Titans are in a very peculiar position. Presently tied for the #3 spot in the west, an earlier season game that was missed due to mother nature may very well be a hindrance down the stretch. In conjunction, they finish the season with the toughest match-ups of all the 2 loss teams in the western conference. An opportunity to fill that voided game will be important come May 29th.

#6. West Mobile 49ers (4-2) – 49ers biggest obstacle at this point is number of games played. With three weeks remaining in the regular season, they will need to fight a tad bit harder than their two loss counterparts for post-season position. Walking away with victories over the next three weeks will be highly important for them.

#7. Crescent City Kings (3-3) – Kings are in a very similar position as that of the 49ers. Playing each of their remaining games will be very important if they have any hopes of maintaining their position in the post-season. There schedule over the course of the next three weeks however won’t be easy. If they are able to win out, they should be able to slide into the post-season as the #7 seed as they presently hold the tie breaker over the Lightning and would then also hold the tie breaker over the Titans.

#8. Louisiana Lightning (3-5) – Lightning still have a glimmer of hope as they continue to fight for the right to play in the post-season. To get there however, they will need to win their final two games of the season and will need to get a great deal of assistance from others.

#8. Hub City Hellcats (3-5) – Hellcats are in a similar position as that of the Lightning. If they are able to pull out victories in their final two games of the season, and are able to get a great deal of assistance from others, they could possibly sneak their way into the post-season. Although chances are slim, mathematically they are still possible as they hold the tie breaker over the Kings.

Greater Pensacola Jets, Tri-City Savages, Crescent City Rampage, and Alabama Tigers presently find themselves preparing for the off-season as they continue to fight for dignity and respect. All four teams are in the position to be post-season busters as they look to knock off teams fighting for the right to participate in the post-season.

In the western conference several scenarios can still play itself out and the above is not all inclusive.

We would like to also announce that both APDFL West Championship teams will be invited to participate in the 2021 Tournament of Champions. Another great event as we enter the 2021 post-season.
