Commissioners Kickoff Classic Predictions

25 FEB 21
By: APDFL Staff Writer

Tuscaloosa, AL - Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League (APDFL) will kickoff the 2021 Spring season in beautiful Tuscaloosa Alabama at Tuscaloosa Central High School Stadium this weekend. After a year that saw a pandemic storm across the globe suspending and canceling events at all levels and of all types, another step towards normalcy, within Covid-19 guidelines, will be on display.

The season will kickoff with two match-ups of equally talented opponents. Slated as what has become; “Georgia vs Alabama Borderline Battle,” the Selma City Vikings (Alabama) will face Atlanta Tigers (Georgia) in the seasons first official game followed by Alabama Blackhawks (Alabama) vs Metro Atlanta Horsemen (Georgia) in the evening nightcap.

With that, let’s get into it!!

(25) Atlanta Tigers (0-0) vs (19) Selma City Vikings (0-0)
2:30PM cst.
Tigers come into this match-up on the heels of an impressive preseason victory just a week ago. They bring with them all the intangibles to be victorious and will be led by their dual threat QB, #9 Moo Moo Manson. If Manson is able to be as elusive as he was in their preseason outing, he will be hard to contain. Vikings however, won’t be easily outmatched. 2021 is primed for them to showcase a breakout season. All the parts are finally in place for them to reach the promise land. A win this weekend would be a great start. Defensive Back, #1 BJ Harris, will have his hands full trying to play in coverage if the front 7 are unable to get pressure on Manson. The Vikings WR core of #2, DeQuan Johnson and #16, Terrell Marshall, will need to match the energy that the Tigers secondary is sure to bring. The Vikings secondary should be up for the challenge...... But will it be enough?
Atlanta Tiger - 24
Selma City Vikings - 17

(10) Metro Atlanta Horsemen (0-0) vs (3) Alabama Blackhawks (0-0)
7:00PM cst
The night cap will display not only two of the best in the APDFL, but two of the best in the country. Horsemen come into the season opener with a roster full of 5 star athletes that will be primed and ready to silence the naysayers. Coming off of a disappointing loss in their last outing, several seem to have underestimated who they really are at full potential. The return of previous league MVP, WR #13 Jerry Gross and counterpart WR #18 Shaun Kitchens will provide a dual threat attack that will be tough for any secondary. QB, #10 Quenton Rucker, and his pinpoint accuracy, will add another complicated dimension. The Blackhawks secondary however, will rise for the occasion. They as well come into this season opener with an unstoppable list of 5 star athletes. Led by arguably the best overall DL core in the country, they will seek to apply pressure from start to finish. Previous MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and the #1 ranked player in the top 50, DE #89 Justin Robinson, will seek to once again display his dominance. QB, #13 Kyle Caldwell, arguably the most elusive dual threat QB in the nation, will be set and ready to lead the offense to victory. The question will come down to one thing. How does the Horsemen OL match up against the explosive DL of the Blackhawks? They will need to play their at their best and mistake free football to win this one.
Alabama Blackhawks - 28
Metro Atlanta Horsemen - 18

There you have it!! The predictions are in and the only thing left to do is to play the game. Like always, don’t hate the predictions, SIMPLY PROVE THEM WRONG!!
