Commissioners Kickoff Classic To Showcase Alabama vs Georgia

Tuscaloosa, AL. (Feb. 5, 2021) – Atlanta Tigers, Selma City Vikings, Metro Atlanta Horsemen and Alabama Blackhawks make up the four-team field for the 2021 Commissioners Kickoff Classic. Games will be played Feb. 27 and will be streamed live via PPV on APDFL Network.

Commissioners Kickoff Classic opener is set for 2:30 p.m. EST, featuring a Georgia vs Alabama match-up of two teams, Atlanta Tigers vs Selma City Vikings, that are widely considered to be sleepers headed into the 2021 season. Game 2 of the doubleheader is set for 7:00 p.m., featuring a top-10 match-up between Alabama Blackhawks, eastern conference runner-up for two consecutive seasons and widely considered one of the top teams heading into the 2021 season, and Metro Atlanta Horsemen, which returns to APDFL play for the first time since 2017 after having won a league championship in their previous league. Score Sports play-by-play is set to call both games of the Commissioners Kickoff Classic.

“We are thrilled to be able to welcome some of the leagues best to Tuscaloosa for the Commissioners Kickoff Classic,” said Bernard Hunt, APDFL Commissioner. “With the litany of challenges these programs have faced in light of starting a new season during this very troubling time across the country, we’re proud to be able to bring these teams together for two games of incredible competition on a national stage. We’re looking forward to two highly intensive competitive games and put a national spotlight on developmental football in Tuscaloosa, Selma and Birmingham Alabama as well as Atlanta Georgia.

Do to social distancing restrictions and an overabundance of caution, will-call tickets will be available for purchase on the league website at: www.TheAPDFL.net. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the gate for those that choose to do so. All individuals interested in attending the event will have temperatures taken at the gate and will be required to wear a mask for entrance. Anyone not complying or having a temperature of 100.4 F or higher will not be allowed access.

The health and safety of everyone involved in the Commissioners Kickoff Classic is the APDFL’s top priority. APDFL is regularly monitoring developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and will implement safety measures based on prevailing guidelines from the Alabama Department of Health and national health entities to help protect the health and safety of all players, coaches, fans and staff.
