Dynasty Seeking To Repeat

With the playoffs on the horizon let’s take a look at the present standings and playoff picture. With 7 remaining active teams in the APDFL South, by default each team will have the opportunity to advance to the post season. The only question rests in who will compete where. With two weeks remaining in the regular season this is how things set as of now.

APDFL South

1. Mississippi Dynasty (8-0) 1.000
The Dynasty presently maintain the statues as the only undefeated team in the APDFL. As the leagues No. 1 team, and the nationally ranked No. 1 team in the country, they should be highly favored in their remaining games. The Memorial Day Weekend match-up against the Crescent City Kings, the only team to defeat them in 2018, should be a highly anticipated game. A win in either of their final two games would solidify the No. 1 seed in the south and home field advantage throughout the postseason.

2. Gulf Coast Gators (7-1) .875
The Gators are presently the No. 2 seed in the South with their only loss coming at the hands of leagues No. 1 team, Mississippi Dynasty. With the suspension of the Pensacola Jets and head-to-head wins over both the Crescent City Kings and South Alabama Dolphins, the Gators find themselves one win away from locking up the No. 2 seed. Dynasty maintain the tie breaker.

3. Crescent City Kings (5-2-1) .688
At 2.5 games behind the conference leader, the Kings are in position to make some noise as they make their way into the postseason. Their final two games will be crucial for playoff standing as they face both the Mississippi Dynasty, looking to hold on to the top seed, and the South Alabama Dolphins, fighting for a higher seed themselves. Consecutive Gators losses over the next two weeks with wins in their next two games would possibly give them the No. 2 seed. Gators maintain the tie breaker.

4. South Alabama Dolphins (6-3) .667
With a single game remaining, the Dolphins will be seeking to make an argument for the No. 3 seed. A win over the Kings this weekend would all but solidify that seeding and lock them in position to host a first round playoff game. A early season win over the Tri-City Savages gives them the tie breaker advantage and therefore the No. 4 seed with a loss this weekend.

5. Tri-City Savages (4-4) .500
Do to an administrative issue involving the Louisiana Lightning, the Savages find themselves locked in at the No. 5 seed. Making their way into the playoffs with victories under their belt would assist in giving them some much needed momentum as they move forward.

6. Crescent City Rampage (2-6-1) .278
With a win this weekend over the No. 2 seeded Gators the Rampage will secure the No. 6 seed. With a loss and a win by the Lightning, they will find themselves at No. 7 and possibly taking the trip to Florida to once again face the Gators in the first round of the postseason.

7. Louisiana Lightning (2-7) .222
An administrative action has possibly caused the Lightning to drop from what could have been the No. 5 seed to what may be the No. 7 seed headed into the post season. A win over the Savages in their final game of the season however should have them entering the postseason at No. 6.
